The story
One large turtle coiled around a spiral of smaller ones, each shell a different pattern. A small painting that took longer than several large ones.
Technique
Shells drawn in raised black line, then filled with gold, bronze and acid green so the surface catches light like enamel.
Inspiration
Generational spirals, tortoiseshell patterning, and gold leaf on icons.
